Comments

Hi All,

Yesterday ended as it began, with another group of whales encountered about 8PM last night. The "Remora" was launched on a group of four whales, of which three were biopsied and one was satellite tagged. This was a great success as it is the first time a satellite tag has been fitted on an Antarctic Blue whale.

This morning started busily again with more whales and more biopsies. We are now up to 14 successful biopsies and over 20 photo IDs. We now have left the immediate area where this concentration of blue whales has been found and are moving south east towards the Balleny Islands off the Antarctic Coast. It is hoped that as we move east we will encounter more concentrations of blue whales to study.

Until Tomorrow,

Regards Chris, Margaret, and the VWhales Team
