Hi All,

So far a very busy day. This morning began frenetically with the "Remora" being launched at 0815 and then both the "Remora" and the ship operated on different groups of blue whales in the area with another six or so blue whales photo ID'd and most biopsied. Our biopsy total is now at eight, and after data is processed this evening we should be in the vicinity of 20 blue whales identified. As I write we are investigating more sightings, most of which appear to be fin whales with the odd humpback and Minke in the mix.

The weather today has been exceptionally good, which allows for both increased numbers of sightings, and better access to work with the whales for both photo ID and biopsy. So far we have taken equal numbers of both from the ship and "Remora".

Having been in contact with all of the blue whales we have been able to find in this vicinity, we may well head off to the east follow up on some faint calls over in that direction that were picked up by the accoustics team over night.

Until Tomorrow,

Regards Chris, Margaret, and the VWhales Team
