I hear another ping from my computer, the emails are running hot as we charge accross the southern ocean. At times our speed exceeds 17 knots
(31 kph), which is no mean feet for a 95m, 8,000 ton ship. We are racing to stay between two lows and out of the northerly winds and swell they could bring us.
Last night we celebrated the last of the ice with a BBQ on the trawl deck. It was a perfect evening with clear skies and sun, a gentle swell running through the pack and icebergs all around. A fitting farewell to the ice that has held us tight and been our home for the last 7 weeks.
Cheers
Andy, Brett
