We are still stationary at ice station 8.
There is a feature called "water sky" which occurs when there is a good blanket of cloud cover. The sky and clouds over areas of open water appear darker than the sky over ice. The sky to the west and north now shows a lot of water sky. This is good news and confirms the satellite imagery we are receiving, showing a general breaking up of the pack ice in the vicinity. There has been no significant change in the ice immediately around the vessel however.
The Twinning’s English Breakfast, my favourite seems to have run out as has the ground coffee. The food quality and quantity are still fantastic. We won't be going hungry in the near future!
Work continues on the ice as does Peter and Rowans massive igloo art (check the AAD web camera...).
Spirits remain high!
Cheers
Andy, Brett
