Comments

The weather was particularly unexceptional today. Last night was even worse with winds well above 40kts (we use knots. 40kts=74kph), subsequently we held position in an area of open water overnight. We managed to deploy the last Waves in Ice buoy on a suitable floe and then performed a FRRF (Fast Repetition Rate Flurometer) and TMR (Trace Metal Rosette). Both FRRF and TMR involve lowering equipment into the water from the rear of the vessel and can be managed in the strong winds we are experiencing. We are now steaming south looking for thicker and more consistent ice with the hope of finding an ice station some time later today (but more likely tomorrow).

Cheers

Andy, Brett
