We're heading south, in ONE DIRECTION, aiming for 62S 120E although it now looks like we'll intersect the ice sooner, possibly at 60 30S 122E.
This could be as soon as late Saturday, but more likely Sunday.
Planning meetings abound with the Trace Metals (TM) team, Fast Repetition Rate Flurometre (FRRF) team, the Laser Optical Plankton Counter (LOPC) team, the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) team, and a load of other teams with equally important and exciting science projects, but lacking the fancy acronyms all meeting with Voyage Management to discuss their project requirements and constraints!
In addition, a meeting with the Inflatable Rubber Boat (IRB) operators and projects who wish their support was also held. As was a meeting to plan our exit strategy from the ice and order the precious high resolution satellite images we'll need to navigate out of the ice in 5 weeks time...
Cheers
Andy, Brett
