Comments

We departed Hobart as planned at 10pm last night having successfully checked the procedure for deploying the acoustic mooring that will be used later in the season for whale research.

Sea trials today have progressed well. The CTD (Conductivity and Temperature at Depth) winch has been tested and the wire lubricated, the FRRF (Fast Repetition Rate Flurometer) has been tested, and the synthetic TMR (Trace Metal Rosette) line has been re-spooled ready for a test deployment later today or tomorrow.

Whilst trials have been underway the remaining expeditioners have been briefed on the Job Hazard Analysis to enable them to work safely in the container laboratories on the forward hatch covers, the trawl deck aft, and in the tween deck forward of the ships galley. Lab inductions and procedures are now underway.

Cheers

Andy, Brett
