The resupply of Davis is now getting into its final stages. Nearly all cargo has been delivered to shore and RTA cargo is being put into the lower holds. Passenger transfers will commence this afternoon with 50 of the passengers being delivered to the ship today. The remaining 8 on shore will finish off resupply in the morning before joining the rest of their comrades on board the ship leaving the 17 wintering expeditioners at Davis who will not then see the ship until November. The two Hagglund oversnow vehicles bound for Mawson which are at present located on the heli-deck will be moved onto the forward hatches and two squirrel helicopters will be flown to the ship from the station and placed into the heli-hangar. They will be used at Mawson for various projects whilst we complete resupply there and then will be brought back with us to Hobart
The key to Davis Station was officially handed over last night from the outgoing station Leader to the ingoing Station Leader an Antarctic Station tradition. All returning expeditioners are looking forward to getting home but first we must resupply Mawson.
Cheers
Tony and Simon
