We are now into our 4th full day of resupply. Yesterday afternoon we completed the refuelling of Davis and the hose reel and refuelling equipment was then packed away in a orderly fashion ready for deployment at Mawson when we get there. Brad and Zach our refuellers executed the operation to their usual professional standard without incident. A big well done to all involved and a special thanks to Bill and the team at Davis for their assistance and support and to Roy and the Engineering team on the Aurora Australis

Today we are preparing for the movement of heavy loads from ship to shore and vice versa. We have a 29 tonne excavator to deliver to the station and we are retrieving a 25 tonne crane. Mobile equipment on station is changed out at regular intervals based on the life cycle of the particular equipment. These heavy pieces of equipment will be floated to and from the ship utilising the uniflotes especially configured for heavier loads. This configuration can carry up to 40 tonnes.

Round trip projects on the station are progressing to plan and all are expected to be completed prior to our departure for Mawson.

Whilst the weather remains good for resupply stronger winds to 45 knots are forecasted for tomorrow. If this is the case resupply activities will be curtailed and the ship may need to move further off shore until the winds abate.

Cheers

Tony and Simon
