Comments

We woke to a covering of snow on the focsle.

This morning we deployed an acoustic logger from the trawl deck. This logger will sit on the sea bed some 2000 metres deep and record blue whale soundings. This deployment is part of a multi-national, circumpolar project which is the flagship of the Southern Ocean Research Partnership – an international Whaling Commission endorsed collaborative program. When the logger had been deployed the ship circled the mooring to enable pin point accuracy of its location by triangulation. This is required to enable recovery of the logger sometime in the future..

We are now ready to resupply Davis. The ETA is very much weather dependent.

Cheers

Tony and Simon
