Comments

We continue to head south on a benign sea. The lowering outside temperatures are a far cry from those we experienced in Hobart prior to our departure.

Over the last 24 hours we have conducted environmental briefings on board. These briefings were for all those expeditioners and crew going ashore at Davis and Mawson stations. The briefings focussed on the need for clothing, boots and equipment to be thoroughly clean prior to disembarkation to ensure the pristine environment of Antarctica wouldn’t be contaminated with alien matter such as seeds, soils etc. The other focus was related to wildlife interaction whilst on station especially with regards to proximity to penguins. After the briefings all expeditioners and crew vacuumed their clothing, bags and equipment and scrubbed their boots in readiness for disembarkation.

Morale on board remains high .

Cheers

Tony and Simon
