The fog has finally cleared, and although overcast, the clearer conditions are affording passengers the opportunity to get photos of some very spectacular ice bergs as we continue towards Davis.
Team CPR were at their best again overnight retrieving the fourth CPR and deploying a fifth one. The plan when we left Hobart was to only deploy four CPRs, but as we have the opportunity to get another one in we'll certainly take it.
Briefings, training and planning sessions continue around the vessel keeping most of us busy and making time go quite quickly out here.
The Camp Quality Head Shaving fund raising event was a great success. Quite a few people are now enjoying the cool crisp Antarctic air on heads that have a little less hair than they did 24 hours ago. A big congratulations must got to Hannah and Ian, who both offered to have their very, very long hair shaved for the cause. Even their hair has now been bagged and stored as it will be donated to a charity that makes wigs. So with donations received onboard and back in Australia we managed to raise over $10,000 for Camp Quality last night alone! Well done and thank you to all onboard and back in Australia.
Rumours are abounding of a potential royal visit to the vessel at some stage in the near future. Like most royal visits, security is very tight and little real detail is known at this early stage, but it certainly has the troops talking.
Cheers,
Andrew and Mark
