Comments

The vessel has been shrouded in heavy fog since late last night,
and with the almost complete lack of wind and only a very gentle swell
rolling through, it has been quite surreal at times as we continue on our
journey in conditions affording little to no visibility. We even had a
little bit of light snow overnight, and with the air and sea temperatures
dropping by the day, we are being reminded that we are in fact at least
heading in the right direction for Antarctica.

The third CPR was successfully retrieved this morning and the fourth one is
now trailing behind the vessel catching plankton. The field training program
continues onboard for station bound expeditioners.

We held a safety Muster drill this morning, which also included an emergency
scenario exercise involving the ship's crew and a number of AAD
expeditioners. This scenario involved the treatment and transfer of a
seriously injured crew member to the ships medical facility for treatment by
the voyage Doctor. The exercise went well and a thorough debrief was then held
with all involved. Whilst we hope we will never have to put these sorts of
skills and training into practice in real life, it is important that we
continue to exercise them thoroughly to ensure we all know how to deal with
them and what each of our roles may potentially be, just in case.

Cheers,

Andrew and Mark
