The weather picked up this morning as predicted, with strong winds and waves up to 5m. This slowed our progress down a little this morning, but things are starting to ease off again now and as a result our speed has increased again this afternoon.
The weather hasn't stopped the bird life showing an interest in our trip south, with albatross following the vessel most of the day which has resulted in the more hardier of the photographers onboard braving the outside decks in an attempt to grab that perfect photo.
We retarded our clocks overnight 1 hour, the first of four time changes we will make on our trip south we are on the same time as Davis station when we arrive.
The first CPR was successfully retrieved at 2000hrs last night, and in a smooth and slick operation the 2nd CPR was loaded with a new silk and deployed behind the vessel, where it will now be towed for another 400nm.
I've also been asked by a few people onboard how their family and friends can track our voyage. This can be done via the AADs website, www.antarctica.gov.au and then following the links to the Shipping and Air Schedules section. There is also and iPad/iPhone app than can be downloaded called Antarctic Voyages, which is a great way to track all AAD voyages.
cheers,
Andrew and Mark
