Comments

For a microsecond last night we thought that we would be called upon again to assist when a message about a possible person overboard off Stuart Island was received on the GMDSS. We were at least seven hours steaming from the position but shortly after receiving the message the emergency was called off without a reason given.

That has pretty much been the only real excitement of the past 24 hours are we continue to make good progress towards Hobart. The vast majority of people are keeping a low profile and contemplating the onerous task of cleaning up their cabins, sorting out their returnable items, cleaning gear and sharing photos of all the locations we have visited on this roundabout trip across the Southern Ocean.

You can stop reading here if you aren't interested in the dessert ramblings:

First night out of port and a much loved dessert made a repeat performance, pancakes! The lifting of ship board spirits, aided by the loading of 10 kilos of brown sugar in Dunedin, was elevated further when this valuable commodity was utilised in probably the best butterscotch sauce that a pancake has every had the pleasure of been smothered in.
This was only to be outdone by the pancakes themselves, which had a fluffy and subtly sweet internal texture that was lovingly wrapped in a tantalising golden outer layer that was cooked to perfection. The symmetry of these sugary Frisbee added to the overall aesthetics and bears testament once more to a master practising his craft at the highest level. Adding some mixed berries and a generous serving of Tasmania's best ice cream (Valhalla of course) only added to a simple but elegant dessert.

Pre-warning: Tonight's dessert will be a provided by one of the Navy medics, Zooey. Big shoes to fill there buddy!!! Find out tomorrow how it all went.

Regards

Rob and Andy
