Yesterday was pretty lumpy with a decent swell and decent wind reducing the comfort level a bit. The ship maintained a good speed throughout the night ensuring that we all awoke to the sight of the lights of Macquarie Island station this morning.
The prevailing weather conditions put a halt to plans for helicopter operations so our focus shifted to using our LARCs to do the heavy lifting. We managed to get all of our round trip project personnel and a little bit of cargo ashore before the wind picked up and blew away any chance of operations in the early afternoon. We are currently swinging of the pick in Buckles Bay with the wind gusting over 50knts and all our LARCs ashore waiting for the wind to back off so we can kick at least one goal today...and maybe get Andy back on the ship (maybe)!!
Last night's dessert was a robust chocolate self saucing pudding which proved a hit with the masses, especially with a dollop of cream and caramel ice cream. Let that belt out another notch. Also have to mention the home made ANZAC biscuits that came out for smoko this morning - sensational!
Navy term of the Day:
Make and mend - taking an early mark. i.e. usually the case at Macca due to the weather!

Rob and Andy
