Comments

Low cloud and some sea mist has prevented ship to shore and down island helicopter operations today at Macquarie Island. Cargo operations have continued today via watercraft, all loose fuel drums on station have now been loaded aboard the ship for RTA (return to
Australia)

Passenger transfer by IRB from ship to shore this morning has enabled several round trip programs to continue. All wintering expeditioners have now moved to shore permanently, with winter handovers from departing winter expeditioners progressing well. Field parties are progressing well through down island round trip programs.

Successful transfer to the ships aquarium was again performed this morning by the marine invertebrate group from a sampling site on the east coast.

The remarkable Macquarie Island wild life is on show, with a pod of orca’s off the starboard bow spotted from the bridge today, light mantled sooty albatross and giant petrels are at present around the ship, along with many king penguins.
REGARDS: Don, Simon and Brett
