Normal sailing the past 24hrs. Clear skies yesterday evening permitted the ship's crew and expeditioners to take in an impressive display by the Southern lights following sunset.
We awoke to the sound of ice running down the side vessel which has now replaced the previously ever present rolling and pitching of open water.
We are now amongst the pack ice and the oceans surface is mostly covered in a solid layer of ice. The temperature is now -14C down 12 degrees from yesterdays -2C. Quite a transition...
Aurora's crew are undertaking final cargo preparations in anticipation of her arrival at Davis tomorrow, with Voyage Management expecting a full day of cargo and personnel transfer operations commencing after breakfast - weather permitting.
Cheers
