Normal sailing the past 24hrs.
Preparations for Aurora's arrival at Davis continue with ship's crew and Voyage Management personnel attending briefings by the ship's officers this morning on Job Hazard Analyses for the various evolutions to be undertaken while in harbour (e.g. helicopter, crane & forklift operations, anchoring, watercraft operations, cold weather and general safety & fatigue awareness).
We had a BBQ on the trawl deck for expeditioners and ship's crew yesterday evening in light of the favourable conditions, with Aurora's small complement of chefs and stewards doing a sterling job preparing a selection of meats, salads & desserts, and setting up the trawl deck and nearby spaces for the event. The weather held off, and with various volunteers (including the Bosun and other crew) manning the hot plates, Bob Seger swooning in the background and large bergs providing a magnificent backdrop - the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Cheers
