Comments

The Aurora Australis retarded clocks by another hour overnight.

Normal sailing the past 24hrs with a low passing to the South of the ship expected to bring heavier sea conditions in the general vicinity later this evening.

We have now shut down the second engine as it is not required in the heavier seas and slower speeds we are currently experiencing.

The second Continuous Plankton Recorder was retrieved and replaced with a new unit around 4pm local (Ship) time yesterday. This third unit will remain in the water until sea conditions are again favourable for retrieval.

Voyage management continue to liaise with Davis & Casey Stations on cargo to be Returned to Australia. We have been in touch with the Davis Station Leader to ascertain projected weather and sea-ice conditions around the time of the ship's arrival early next week, which will determine the best approach for personnel and cargo transfer operations.

Cheers

Andy, Leanne and Mark
