Comments

Normal sailing the past 24hrs with the odd larger swell encountered into the late-afternoon and overnight making for interesting meal-times.

Both of Aurora's engines running.

The first of the Continuous Plankton Recorder units was retrieved around 4pm local (Ship) time yesterday. In light of heavier sea conditions associated with a forecast low passing over Aurora's track for Wednesday, Voyage Management and ship's crew made the decision to proceed with the deployment of the next recorder but to retrieve it earlier than anticipated (around 4pm local time today to coincide with the change of watch aboard) so that a retrieval need not be attempted in unfavourable weather & / or sea state. The unit will be re-deployed pending the heavier weather and seas abating on Thursday.

Voyage management, senior helicopter and senior P&O crew met this morning to conduct an advance-planning meeting for the cargo and personnel transfer operations at Davis.

Aurora will further retard clocks by one hour overnight as we proceed through the next time zone.

Cheers

Andy, Leanne and Mark
