Comments

As forecast, the weather has deteriorated significantly and we are bouncing around like an eight-thousand ton cork in a rather large washing machine. Most of the team are spending their time wisely wedged into corners trying to brace against the motion of the ship as she rolls, occasionally very heavily. Hopefully this should ease and shift into the west by tomorrow. Preparations for our return to Hobart are now well advanced, with all but a few last minute jobs to do, such as relieving personnel of their Antarctic clothing and personal protective equipment, which will be returned directly from the ship to the AAD store in Kingston. The krill are doing well in their tanks with Pud and his able assistants making sure they could want for nothing. Mortality has been quite low since their initial introduction to their special temporary homes. Many seem to be sleeping gently on the bottom of their tanks while moving gently around. And so to riddle of the day "What do Chunky and Krill have in common?" Answer - "They like to sleep a lot".

Regards

Andy, Sharon and Chris
