Preparations are in full swing for our arrival into Hobart tomorrow morning at 0700, 3 January 2012. There is a cabin cleaning frenzy on D-Deck as everyone prepares for cabin inspections 0630 tomorrow morning. Everyone’s Antarctic clothing issue was collected this afternoon. This clothing will now be delivered to the AAD at Kingston for cleaning and re-issued in the not too distant future for another voyage or flight to Antarctica. It is not only our last night onboard, but also the last cheese, biscuits with a cuppa tea to be enjoyed in the mess around 2100. Anticipation is building as everyone receives notification of flights home and the realisation that tomorrow night they will be in their own beds – soon the trip to Antarctica will feel almost like a dream. As this is the final sitrep, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on board and at Casey for all their efforts and determination in ensuring Voyage 2 was successful and achieved its main objectives. REGARDS: Sharon, Fred and Jill
