Comments

After checking the weather forecast we made our way back into Newcomb Bay to start cargo operations. As the forecast was for the winds to pick up, we ensured we kept a close eye on the plateau horizon as when this starts to get a fuzzy outline, it is a very good indication that stronger winds are on their way. We were only able to get one barge load of RTA cargo and one barge load of cargo to the station before the winds chased us back out of the bay.
Most of the day was then spent in the Frazier Island group area, receiving updates on the weather at Casey to ensure we were ready to make our way back to station if a lull in the winds presented itself. The crew utilised this time while we were positioned in lighter winds, to prepare cargo loads ready to be discharged as soon as the barge was alongside the ship.
Heavy snow showers and the stronger winds persisted right up until the late afternoon; when we were fortunate to get another weather window to complete another couple of barge runs.
The barge is now on board and we are waiting till tomorrow to see if the weather is suitable for more cargo operations.

REGARDS: Sharon, Fred and Jill
