With resupply complete the ship commenced making its way out of our parking position. This took a few hours as the ship had to break the fast ice surrounding it before it could join up with the channel it had created on its way in. Over resupply we discharged approximately 630 tonnes of cargo, loaded around 325 tonnes of RTA (Return to Australia) cargo, pumped 840 000 litres of SAB (Special Antarctic Blend – diesel) and delivered 171 000 litres of water. All round trip projects were completed as per our Voyage Brief. Things are very quiet on the ship at the moment as we only have 30 passengers compared with the 87 on the way to Davis. We had the first emergency muster drill today, conditions were great out on the heli-deck and certainly not as cold as the previous muster drill. With everyone already having to get dressed up in their Antarctic clothing for the muster, it provided the opportunity to stay outside to enjoy the magnificent scenery and the abundance of wild life.
