All the Davis winter team joining us for the return journey to Australia completed their compulsory briefings at 0830 today in preparation for our departure. Emotions can be high at this time, as everyone says their goodbyes to both people they have spent the last 12 months with and some they have just met. Once cargo operations were complete, the water transfer was finished and the ship was ready to depart and start breaking its way out of the ice, where it has spent the last week. All voyage objectives were achieved and round trip project teams worked very hard to ensure they maximised the time they had available. With another beautiful day, and resupply drawing to a close, many people took the opportunity to go to Gardener or Anchorage Island for a final visit to see the penguins. The vessel will depart Davis this evening. REGARDS: Sharon and Leanne
