Today the Davis winter team moved into their cabins on the ship in preparation for our possible departure tomorrow. This allowed the handful of incoming personnel who have remained sleeping on the ship throughout resupply the chance to move into their rooms on station. Last night was a busy night with the official ceremony to handover Davis Station from the outgoing Station Leader to the incoming Station Leader, the winter team were presented with their medallions in recognition of their time at Davis, refuelling finished and the transfer of water to the station from the ship commenced. Approximately 840 000 litres of SAB (special Antarctic blend) was transferred to the station fuel farm over 40 hours. Cargo operations went well today, all cargo was discharged from the ship at 0915 this morning and loading of RTA (return to Australia) cargo continued. A small group of emperor and Adelie penguins decided to take up residence just behind the ship, this provided some great photo opportunities for all on board and working nearby. REGARDS: Sharon and Leanne
