Overnight we travelled through several patches of open water and arrived at the Davis fast ice edge at 1023 local time this morning. Currently we are slowly edging our way through the fast ice with Davis station in view. Our plans to fly priority personnel ashore today to prepare for resupply, has been delayed due to high winds. Unfortunately the outside decks had to be closed due to the slippery and windy conditions, limiting everyone’s view of the spectacular scenery. This is the first time in the voyage that we have been surrounded by icebergs. Cabin inspections were conducted this morning; everyone is packed ready waiting for their imminent disembarkation from the ship. REGARDS: Sharon and Leanne
