Comments

This morning was such a contrast to the last couple of days, waking to white-out conditions as the ship was engulfed by thick fog. There have been snow showers on and off all day, adding to the already thick snow cover we are encountering on the sea ice. Wildlife sightings were down in comparison to the last few days with only a few adelie penguins sighted.
We have almost completed all briefings required prior to our arrival at Davis, including pre-arrival and resupply overview, part two of the helicopter briefings which involved the practical side of safety around helicopters, including how to approach them safely, open/close the doors, fit seatbelts etc. The vacuuming of clothing, bags and cleaning of boots is now complete in readiness for our arrival at Davis.
The number of talks has not diminished over our time on the ship, there are often two to three presentations a night. Last night Jesse opened with a presentation on “Early Women in Antarctica”, followed by Tui’s presentation on “Kenya Highlands”.
