Comments

Today we crossed the Antarctic Convergence, our sea and air temperatures have now both dropped from around 7 deg C to 3 deg C. Bird life around the ship has increased and we are starting to experience the increase in wind and seas predicted by our forecasters. This is not welcomed by everyone, especially the ones just getting their sea legs, however outside the ship the Albatross are loving it. Three more Argo floats have been deployed and another successful CPR was retrieved at midnight, new unit fitted and deployed again to follow us for another 450nm. Field training continued this morning, giving everyone the chance to brush up on their navigation, patient handling and comms skills. The afternoon was a time to relax and settle back for a double matinee starting with a slideshow on “Antarctica – According to a Boilermaker named Horse”, followed by an overview of the work Barbara and Nobuo will be undertaking at Davis this summer. REGARDS: Sharon and Leanne
