Comments

Today was a little busier around the ship than yesterday, with the first of the Field Training sessions commencing at 0930 today, retrieval and deployment of the CPR at around 0400 and the deployment of our first Argo Profiling Float. We have 12 Argo Profiling Floats in total to deploy on our voyage. They will provide real time monitoring of upper ocean variability in the Australian Region of the Southern Ocean. Several birds have been sighted so far including: white headed petrel, white chinned petrel, wandering albatross, short tailed shearwater, prions and a cape petrel. The rec room will be packed out again tonight as we sit back and enjoy a presentation from our helicopter pilots about their adventures. REGARDS: Sharon and Leanne
