Comments

Over the course of yesterday the winds and seas eased and a
significant amount of activity was able to be undertaken in the
favourable conditions. A couple of camera gear casts were undertaken
last night as well as this morning. This provided a large number of
pictures of the sea floor as well as quite a few spider crabs. Last
night the acoustics work continued with a successful series of tests of
the hydrophone and pinger. This work is not complete.

Also this morning a trawl was attempted as well as another CTD cast. At
the moment a trawl is being undertaken with some time expected to be
available this afternoon to do one more CTD cast prior to commencing
passage back to Hobart.

The pilot is due to board the vessel at 0530 tomorrow and we expect to
be tied up and alongside Selfs Point by 0700. A big thanks to the crew
of Aurora Australis for a successful four days and well done to all the
team involved in the trials. Thanks also to the AA's catering team for
looking after us all so well.

Golden Syrup Dumplings for dessert last night - one word description
"Sensational". VL weight gain for voyage - at least 2 kgs.

Regards

Rob and Jono
