Last night we celebrated with drinks in the Husky Bar. Yet again the
galley crew surprised and amazed us by delivering an incredible array of
cheese and nibbles, pies and spring rolls. The food on this voyage has
been second to none.
Peter Mooney, the General Manager of Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service
(PWS) took the opportunity to thank all of the Macquarie Island Pest
Eradication Project (MIPEP) team for their great efforts and persistence
over the past couple of months battling the elements on Macquarie
Island. He also thanked the voyage management team, the crew of the
Aurora Australis, the helicopter pilots and engineers and the Light
Amphibious Resupply Cargo (LARC) crew for such an efficient and
effective resupply.
Beechy, Leanne and I would like to add our thanks to all for their
tremendous efforts over the last couple of days, and in particular for
ensuring that not only was the operation smooth and efficient but also
safe and without incident.
The Master and crew of the Aurora Australis have once again done a
tremendous job. Just like the voyage support teams ashore there are many
unsung hero's, the galley staff and stewards, ships engineers,
communications staff and the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecaster, all
contribute to a successful operation both on board the ship and working
on station at Macquarie Island.
We are still on target for an arrival tomorrow morning at 1000hrs alongside Macquarie No. 3 Wharf.
Cheers
Chunky, Beechy, Leanne.
