This morning was just as forecast, moderate winds and clear skies. Doing the 0700 daily weather check on the bridge we could see stars which indicated a good day to come. The station team had everything ready at Green Gorge, the crew had the ship well prepared and we rapidly flew off 128 bait pods and some fuel drums. At the same time folks in the field and the other helicopters did a resupply of field huts at Hurd Pt and Davis Pt. We back loaded every empty drum that could be found and the crew filled them on the ship at the end of the day. We steamed back to the station and were met head on by a pod of hundreds of pilot whales travelling South along the coast. Finally we flew the filled drums off, refuelled the helicopters on the ship and sent them back ashore for the winter program with full tanks. We wish all those on Macca all the very best for the coming winter and every success with their programs, particularly the eradication. We are now out of the lee of the island and rolling North towards Hobart.
