A day of low cloud, wind and rain today. Our forecaster Mal predicted a slight easing for an hour or two around midday so we anchored off the station and when the predicted clearer patch came, as forecast, we quickly retrieved some final RTA from the station with one helicopter. It’s all about the weather here so having a forecaster onboard is vital. We have to snatch what opportunities are available and be ready to do so and of course the Southern Ocean and Macquarie island don’t make it easy. The one thing that is certain, however, is the quality of food we are served every day. The Aurora galley staff are doing an amazing job with all of our meals though it is often a challenge to decide just what to eat, or maybe the answer is to try it all! We are hoping for good weather tomorrow for a chance to do our final task which is to establish the Green Gorge bait depot.
REGARDS: Robb, Leanne and Martin
