We made an attempt at catching some krill last night for the experimental krill research program being undertaken at the AAD. This program is focussed on obtaining life history information for use in managing the Antarctic krill fishery. It requires the trawl and capture of live krill, which are returned to Australia for study. We turned south to arrive back at the sea-ice edge on dusk, and lowered the Rectangular Midwater Trawl a couple of times, for the grand total of... wait for it.... 6 krill. Not quite the outcome we were after. We shall have another go tonight. A beautiful Antarctic sunrise this morning, and now a beaut day.
