Awoke to an aurora in a clear cold sky (-17 before sunrise), and the promise of a good day ahead. Yesterday afternoon, the entire pack began drifting to the NNW, with us in it. By just before sunrise we'd made over 7 miles, and with the sun, the ice eased, and we began to go in the direction we wanted to, rather than being dragged along for the ride. We're currently heading for a position north of a very large iceberg, and some grounded bergs, before turning to a more SW course to commence closing in on Davis again. The ship's crew have been busy clearing the build-up of ice from the helideck, in anticipation of getting two helicopters to the ship to assist us with our passage through the ice to Davis. We're just about to commence moving cargo from the hangar to the hold, so the choppers have a roof over their heads when they arrive.
