Comments

Tireless work by the crew of the Aurora has seen us make just under half a kilometre in the last 24 hours. From our initial small patch of open water behind the ship, we've backed and battered our way forward through some very thick sea-ice floes (up to 3 m with an additional 1 m of snow cover), and are now only metres away from the rafted younger ice, which we hope will be somewhat easier to navigate through. The wind has eased significantly, and even though we still have the occasional snow shower, we're also catching sight of where the sun might be if the cloud were to break up. Our plan is to head north into more open ice, before turning west and trying again for a closer approach to Davis.
