An uneventful afternoon and night for us here. A few fleeting moments of clearer conditions yesterday, with even an occasional shaft of sunlight through the torn, speeding clouds. The wind remains a persistent easterly, still hovering around the 30-40 knot mark. We've just clutched in the second engine, to give the bigger local floes around us a nudge, and see what moves where, hoping to open up a way through to the smaller ice nearby. The ship judders and vibrates to life with the extra activity down below in the engine room. There are plenty of expectant eyes on the bridge, hoping to spot some movement in the pack.
