Comments

This morning blowing snow covered the fast ice and great flurries could be seen in the lee of the distant mountains. By mid morning patches of cloud appeared overhead and the winds began to abate.
The first helicopter landed on the ship with all the returning passengers and the pilots Dave and Leigh swapped places, Leigh flying back to Mawson with a load of cargo and Dave staying aboard to assist in the heli-hanger and eventually return to Australia with us.
We have four more loads of cargo to fly and a reconnaissance flight for the ships officers, to find the best route through the ice pack before we depart.

Cheers
Andy, Margaret and Kate.
