Comments

Yesterday we spent the evening sounding the polynya for future reference and to help improve charts for the area. We discovered that the location of Ryrie Rock, a small island 15 miles away is out by 3 miles compared to the chart. Comparing the echo sounder depths to the chart it is obvious how little data we have for these relatively uncharted waters with some water shown at 500m deep being 1000m.

We awoke to a clear calm day and got straight into cargo after a quick passenger transfer to bring returning winterers aboard. We are very conscious that the winds will be higher tomorrow and so we are prioritising sling loads today with the intention of flying cargo internally tomorrow. Ten loads of cargo had left the ship by lunchtime.

Cheers

Andy, Margaret and Kate.
