Comments

We set sail yesterday afternoon after a short ceremony to handover into
the care of the voyage management team, the ashes of Phil and Nell Law.
Phil and Nell are currently travelling peacfully in the voyage leaders
cabin and will finally be laid to rest in a rock cairn on West Arm at
Mawson Station in a few weeks time.

About half of the expeditioners were at lunch today with the remainder
resting after the busy flurry of activities that is a ships departure,
or staying horizontal until they are used to the motion of the vessel.

This morning the CPR (continuous plankton recorder) and the first Argo
profiling float were deployed.

Planning meetings, field training and the first evening science talk
will all start tomorrow.

Cheers

Andy, Margaret, Kate.
