Aurora Australis continues making good time with a Saturday ETA of 1600 becoming more and more likely and official. It is always a challenge for the captain of a ship to commit to an ETA. Captain Murray says: one cannot say whether a ship is late or early before it is securely tied to its berth. Despite the great accuracy of weather forecasts, local variations happen. Plus there can be other unforeseen matters and exceptional events. For example, last year, upon V3’s return, a tsunami warning closed the Hobart ports for several hours, and delayed our arrival. We remain optimistic that all will come to plan, especially for the hard working team who prepare all the port call arrangements to receive us.
Last night, Micky entertained a large crowd with a 1.5 hour slide show and home video about Wilkins Runway activities. Wilkins is attracting a lot of interest and there were quite a few questions. The crew is currently actively working on preparations for tonight’s big night of entertainment, a quiz night which will be another fundraising function for Camp quality.
Noel’s afternoon bread making classes were a real success, as much for the apprentice bakers as for the dinner bread tasters who greedily surrounded the warm fresh bread loaf like vultures as soon as it came out of the oven!
Dessert of the Day: Serena’s sticky date pudding definitely deserved a special mention. Matt’s special birthday death by chocolate cake was in the competition, but home made desserts always win!
REGARDS: Fred and Kerry
