Comments

King Neptune paid us a visit yesterday, just as we were crossing 60 deg south. This was followed by a BBQ on the trawl deck. You could not ask for better conditions, mild temperatures and finishing with snow. With the appearance of ice bergs, the ice berg team leapt into action to test out their new sextant skills.

Around 0700 this morning we entered the first pack ice of the trip. With all this going on it is easy to know where to find everyone – on the bridge. We are now seeing many Antarctic birds including, snow petrels, Antarctic petrels and cape petrels. A rare ross seal was sighted this morning and posed for the camera.

Quote of the Day: Lots of ice – really nice!!!

REGARDS: Sharon, Fred and Kerry
