Comments

The last 24hours has been action packed. The retrieval of the CPR attracted a large crowd last night. It was a particularly successful and interesting haul as this trawl passed through the convergence (we didn’t even feel the bump!) Rob pointed out a large group of “killer krill” and a squid as the sample was unwound for preserving. This was preceded by an informative talk on Afghanistan by Dave which generated lots of discussion.

The bridge is the place to be, with the first ice berg sighted at 0752 this morning and a number of whale sightings. These included a pod of around 12 orcas and another pod of approximately 20 pilot whales. Briefings are continuing with our anticipated arrival on Saturday.

Highlight of the Day: Warm and succulent date scones for smoko. Definitely too good to stop at one!!

REGARDS: Sharon, Fred and Kerry
