Many expeditioners and crew showed off their creative flair in the variety of hats seen at the ‘Mad Hatters’ occasion last night in the bar. They ranged from an extremely impressive cardboard model of the Aurora Australis, to a mass of engineering hardware with flashing lights, to a remarkable use of cooking equipment, boxing gloves and egg-shells by the gallery crew! There were also a number of people sporting towels, turbans and tropical shirts. The midwinter movie was played for all to see, the music flowed, and a fun, sociable evening was had by all. This morning we awoke to sunshine and relatively calm seas. The air and sea temperatures have increased markedly, and there is a real sense on board that we are approaching ‘home’. We are pleased to say that tonight will be our last clock change for the voyage, as we advance our clocks one hour bringing us in line with Australian Eastern daylight saving time. ETA into Macquarie No. 3 Wharf Hobart is 0700hrs Thursday 2 December 2010. REGARDS: Karin, Sharon & Lance
