Comments

Yesterday we continued to search for blue whales in a SE to S'ly direction but with no luck. Around lunch time we re-traced our track to N and by tea time we were approximately in the same area where we found the humpback whales the previous day. The humpback whales in this area have been extremely inquisitive and pretty much come right up alongside the Tangaroa, which has been great for taking photos. Remora was launched just before tea with 3 biopsy samples being collected. We also launched 4 sonobuoys and the krill hoop net was deployed. Last night the Tangaroa completed a krill acoustic survey again and today we continue to search for blue whales.
Tonight we will run to the Balleny Islands in anticipation of RIB work tomorrow before turning the ship for Wellington.

REGARDS:

Hully, Sarah and Nick
