Currently, we have both Remora and Beluga (RIBs) on the water working small
pods of humpback whales separately. The RIBs were organised and ready to go
before breakfast today and launched shortly there after. So far we have
tagged to 2 humpbacks with satellite tags and have taken biopsies and
identification photographs of the whales worked. The weather forecast and
sea conditions are good for today and tomorrow, so things are looking
promising for more scientific work to be completed. It is appropriate to
summarise the current situation as "Hooray" and the bridge is alive with
observers and communications to and from the Tangaroa and the RIBs. Regards
