Land ahoy. Yesterday morning we experienced storm force conditions with
winds gusting greater than 60 knots and 6-8 metre waves. We took shelter
around lunch time behind Sturge Island in the Balleny Group and did so for
the night with winds still around 55 knots until the late evening but then
easing. This morning we woke to a stunning but misty view of the western
side of Sturge Island. We are currently steaming towards Buckle Island to
find a lee from the wind and swell and hopefully find some whales to work.
The weather forecast is improving as today goes on and is good for the next
couple of days so we are all hoping for good conditions and whales. We
continue to search for every opportunity to work and are looking forward to
the next couple of days. Regards Hully, Sarah and Nick
