Comments

After our sunny afternoon and evening yesterday, from a weather perspective, we are currently experiencing the effects of a low pressure system, with low cloud and moderate to strong winds. The weather is forecast to worsen later today and improve by Tuesday morning. We all have our fingers crossed that the low pressure system passes us sooner rather than later, so we can work some more whales. This kind of weather pattern is to be expected at the latitude we are operating in. We have seen an Antarctic Tern and Adelie penguins, taking the seabird species count to 42 and a Ross Seal which is a rare and exciting sight. We also deployed a plankton hoop net and caught some small krill. A Happy Valentines Day from all those on board to those loved ones at home and the day started with love-heart shaped potato cakes.
Regards Hully, Sarah and Nick
